Illinois divorcees may be interested in hearing about a trend of separated couples trying to get along with their ex-spouses. In may cases where minor children are involved, the couple wants to use a process called collaborative divorce. This process allows them to create agreements outside of court that suit the family's specific needs.

Judge orders 6-year-old returned to Illinois in custody case

A federal judge ordered that a six-year-old boy who is living in Ireland with his father be sent to his mother's home in Orland Park. The boy has been out of the country with his father for 17 months. The case continues to be fought out in court, and a hearing scheduled for February could reverse the December decision.

Jason Patric and ex-girlfriend battle over child custody

Illinois residents may be interested in the ongoing custody battle being waged between actor Jason Patric and his ex-girlfriend. Mr. Patric and his ex had a son together in 2009 after he donated his sperm to her so that she could fulfill her dream of being a mother. Since that time, he has been seeking a joint custody arrangement.

NBA player must pay $2,500 per month in child support

In early December, it was reported that NBA player Joe Johnson signed a child support agreement stipulating that he would pay his son's mother $2,500 each month. The terms of the agreement also stated that he would pay for the woman to move to New York City and purchase a new vehicle. In addition, the Brooklyn Nets player who is familiar to Illinois basketball fans must subsidize up to $5,000 of her home rental costs each month.
